Pune: A serious crime accused, Santosh Sachin Sathe, has escaped from Sassoon Hospital while undergoing treatment under police custody.
According to reports, Santosh Sathe was under medical treatment at Sassoon Hospital, where he was being monitored by the police. However, he managed to escape on Tuesday (March 26) morning, raising serious questions about police security and supervision.
Legal Background and Police Action
Sathe had a case registered against him at Karad Police Station under IPC Section 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty). Following his escape, a new case has been filed against him at Bund Garden Police Station.
Repeated Security Lapses at Sassoon Hospital
This incident has once again highlighted security concerns at Sassoon Hospital, which serves as a treatment facility for criminals from Yerawada Jail and Western Maharashtra.
Previously, drug mafia Lalit Patil had also managed to escape from Sassoon Hospital, indicating a pattern of criminals misusing the hospital facility for escape attempts. Police have now launched a search operation to track down the escaped accused.
