Pune: Jaysingh Maharaj Vishwanath More Inamdar (75), the 10th descendant of Sant Tukaram Maharaj, passed away on Wednesday (April 2) morning at around 9 AM after battling a brief illness. He was the head of Shedge Dindi No. 3 in the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Procession and was well-known for his dedication to the Warkari tradition.

Jayasingh Maharaj More is survived by his brother, wife, two sons, and a daughter. He was the elder brother of Jalindar Maharaj More, the President of the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan.

Over the past few days, he had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital due to health complications. However, despite medical efforts, he passed away on Wednesday morning.

Throughout his life, Jayasingh Maharaj More was a staunch opponent of controversial literature that misrepresented Sant Tukaram Maharaj and the Warkari sect. He was even involved in legal battles to defend the sanctity of their teachings and traditions. He also played a crucial role in resolving key issues related to the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Processions.

His last rites were performed at the Vaikunth Crematorium in Pune, attended by office bearers of religious institutions, Warkari community members, and dignitaries from various fields. His passing is considered a great loss to the Warkari sect and the Sant tradition.
