Pune: Residents of Kothrud and Hinjewadi were greeted with an unexpected rain shower on Tuesday (April 1) evening, providing temporary relief from the humid weather. Around 8:45 PM, light rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, briefly drenched the area.

For the past three days, cloudy weather and high humidity had made the atmosphere uncomfortable. The sudden rainfall, though not heavy, brought a pleasant surprise to many residents.

Speaking about the unexpected shower, Umesh Bhelke from Bhelke Nagar said, "With the thunder roaring, we expected heavy rainfall, but it only lasted long enough to make the roads wet. It felt like nature played an April Fool’s prank on us! A heavier downpour would have been even better."

While many residents welcomed the brief rain, the drizzles caused minor difficulties for two-wheeler riders, making the roads slightly slippery. In areas like Paud Road, Vanaz Company to Kothrud Depot, Ashish Garden to Kothrud Police Station, and Badhai Chowk to Ashish Garden Chowk, major road and cable-laying work is ongoing, resulting in large-scale digging. Due to this, traffic in these areas was already moving at a slow pace, and the rain added to the commuters' challenges.

Additionally, power outages were reported in some parts of Paud Road, leading to darkness in affected areas. Despite the minor inconveniences, children made the most of the rain, stepping outside and playing in the drizzle, enjoying the rare April showers.
