Pune, 4th December 2024: In a significant step toward modernization, the Land Records Department has introduced an online system to send notices related to property card e-mutations via speed post.
The department’s computer system has been integrated with the e-Post system, and the service is currently being tested at Pune's Urban Land Measurement Offices 1 and 2.
The notices pertain to updates such as inheritance, sale, or purchase entries on property cards. These updates will now be processed and delivered electronically to the concerned parties via speed post, eliminating delays and manual intervention.
State Settlement Commissioner Niranjan Sudhanshu highlighted the benefits of the initiative, stating that the new system reduces the time required to prepare and send notices while ensuring accurate delivery through tracking.
This marks another milestone in the department's efforts to digitize services, including the replacement of traditional land documents with property cards in major cities.
Previously, citizens faced significant delays and expenses in updating property records, often requiring multiple office visits. To address these issues, the department, in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), developed a computerized e-mutation system.
Under the new system, once an application for property transactions or inheritance is processed, an e-mutation entry will be made, and a "Form 9" notice will be sent electronically to the e-Post system. The notice will then be printed and delivered by the post office through speed post.
This streamlined process ensures transparency and accountability. The system records whether notices were delivered, accepted, or returned due to incorrect addresses, enabling better tracking and record-keeping.
