Pune: A theft involving ₹3.17 lakh in cash has been reported at the Panditrao Agashe English Medium School on Law College Road in Pune. The incident came to light on Monday (January 13) morning when school staff discovered that the lock of the school office had been broken and the money stolen.

The theft occurred late on Sunday (January 12) night when the school was closed for the weekend. Unidentified thieves entered the premises, broke into the office, and stole cash amounting to ₹3.17 lakh from a cupboard. The stolen cash had been collected from students as part of contributions for an upcoming school trip.

Upon being informed, Police Sub-Inspector Mahesh Bhosale visited the scene to investigate. Initial findings revealed that the CCTV cameras in the school premises were not operational at the time of the theft, making it difficult to identify the culprits.

A teacher from the school lodged a formal complaint at the Deccan Police Station, following which a case was registered against unidentified individuals. Police are currently examining other evidence and conducting a thorough investigation to trace the thieves.

The stolen money was intended to cover expenses for a school trip, and the incident has caused distress among the staff and students. Police are exploring all possible leads to recover the stolen cash and apprehend the culprits.
