Pune: In a heartwarming gesture on Maharashtra State Police Day, valuables worth over ₹1 crore were returned to their rightful owners during a special event held at Mahatma Phule Cultural Hall in Wanawadi. The "Return of Recovered Property" ceremony was organized by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone V, under the Pune City Police jurisdiction.
One of the highlights of the event was Nirmala Randive’s emotional story. After losing her brand-new rickshaw to theft in 2022, Randive and her family struggled for two years, facing financial hardships. Her joy knew no bounds when the police informed her about recovering her stolen vehicle. Expressing her gratitude with teary eyes, she thanked the police for their relentless efforts.
Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma, and Additional Commissioners of Police Praveenkumar Patil, Shailesh Balkawade, Manoj Patil, and Nikhil Pingle were present, along with other officers and dignitaries.
Valuables Recovered and Returned
During the ceremony, 94 complainants received their recovered items, including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, mobile phones, jewelry, and cash. The total value of the returned property exceeded ₹1 crore. These recoveries were made by nine police stations under Zone V, with court approval.
Addressing the gathering, Police Commissioner Kumar called for active public cooperation in combating crime, urging citizens to act as the "eyes and ears" of the police. He assured that strict action would be taken against individuals engaged in illegal activities, including illicit liquor operations and unauthorized bars, with no exceptions.
