Pune: The Pune district administration has identified 16,000 beneficiaries of the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin’ scheme whose Aadhaar numbers do not match their submitted documents. The authorities are currently working on verifying and updating these records to ensure accuracy.

Large-Scale Verification Underway
A total of 21,11,991 women in Pune district had applied for the scheme. To prevent ineligible applicants from availing of the benefits, the state government had urged such individuals to voluntarily withdraw their applications.

However, due to a low response, authorities obtained a list from the Transport Department containing the names of beneficiaries or their family members who own four-wheelers. This list has been distributed to all districts for further scrutiny and verification.

Challenges in the Verification Process
Initially, Anganwadi workers were assigned to conduct door-to-door verification. However, due to logistical challenges, the process has now been shifted to supervisors. Alongside the verification of Aadhaar mismatches, officials are also updating details of beneficiaries who submitted incorrect documents. Since the entire verification process is being conducted online, progress has been slower than expected, as confirmed by an official from the administration.

Neligible Beneficiaries’ Payments Halted
During the verification process, it was found that some beneficiaries were already receiving other government benefits. As a result, the state government has stopped further disbursements to such individuals at its level.
