On Monday, Punjab Police announced that they had dismantled an ISI-backed terror module allegedly run by Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIOs), following the arrest of three suspects and the seizure of two Arges hand grenades and a foreign-manufactured Glock pistol from their possession.
Accused identified
The individuals charged have been identified as Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran, along with Bikramjit Singh and Amandeep Singh, both from Amritsar.
Cross-Border Links Suspected
Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, stated that the grenades recovered carry markings of the Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF), suggesting cross-border connections. He added that initial investigations indicate the module was engaged in systematically targeting police facilities in several states.
Operation and arrest in Gujarat
Police stated that the main operative and primary liaison for the PIOs in the group, Bikramjit Singh, was based in Deesa city in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district. This information was passed on to the Gujarat ATS, and with their active assistance, the accused Bikramjit Singh was apprehended.
