Nigdi: Three Arrested for Assaulting Police Officers While Intervening in Public Quarrel

Two accused reportedly banged their heads against the walls, damaged office property, and issued threats to officers, stating, “We’ll deal with all of you and make you work for us.”

Pune: A shocking incident unfolded in Nigdi where three individuals allegedly attacked police officers with kicks and punches after being stopped from fighting in public. The incident has led to the arrest of Pramod Prakash Sakhare (26), Vaibhav Bhausaheb Tupe (28), and Ajay Babasaheb Pol (21).

The incident occurred when police constable Praveen Kamble and his team were patrolling the Nigdi area. They noticed the accused involved in a heated argument and attempted to intervene. However, the situation escalated when the accused attacked the officers.

As per the police report, constable Kamble was pushed to the ground and assaulted with kicks and punches. One of the accused twisted another officer's finger while shouting, “The police are too arrogant.”

Upon receiving information about the attack, senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Doiphode, Assistant Commissioner of Police Vishal Hire, Police Inspector Vijay Dhamal, and Shatrughna Mali, rushed to the location.

Escalation at the Crime Branch Office

After being taken into custody and brought to the crime branch office, two of the accused, Pramod and Vaibhav, allegedly tried to disrupt proceedings further. They reportedly banged their heads against the walls, damaged office property, and issued threats to the officers, stating, “We’ll deal with all of you and make you work for us.”

The Nigdi police are investigating the case to determine the full extent of the charges and any additional offenses committed by the accused during their detention.
