Pune: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has announced the auction of 520 properties whose owners have failed to clear their property tax dues. The tax collection department has set March 5, 2025, as the final deadline for defaulters to settle their outstanding payments. Failure to do so will result in their properties being auctioned.
The PCMC’s tax seizure campaign, launched in December 2024, has targeted properties with unpaid taxes. As part of the drive, authorities sealed and seized 877 properties, including non-residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties.
So far, 357 property owners have cleared their outstanding dues, leading to the lifting of the seizure orders on their properties. However, 520 properties remain under seizure, and the auction process for these properties has now been initiated.
Defaulters who do not clear their dues before March 5 will not only lose their properties but will also have to bear an additional 15% auction fee on top of their existing dues. Once the auction process begins, property owners will have very limited chances to stop it.
PCMC Urges Immediate Payment to Avoid Auction
Additional Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale has appealed to all defaulters to clear their dues immediately and prevent their properties from being auctioned. He emphasized that once the official auction notice is published, property owners will have minimal legal options to prevent the sale.
The PCMC has been actively seizing properties and issuing multiple warnings to defaulters, urging them to pay their taxes on time. However, with a large number of property owners still not paying their dues, the auction process is now in motion.
Property owners who have received seizure notices should pay their dues in full before March 5, 2025, to avoid auction proceedings against their properties.
