Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has taken strict action against illegal hoardings in the city, filing cases against two individuals and collecting fines amounting to ₹46,500 from five businesses and residents.

This action follows a special drive conducted by the PCMC Sky Signage and Licensing Department to curb unauthorized signage.

Ravindra Ramdas Kalokhe from Chikhali and Srinivas Madgunji from Bhosari have been booked under criminal charges for putting up illegal hoardings.

Cases were filed against them at the Bhosari Police Station as part of the municipal crackdown. In addition to the legal actions, fines were collected from the following individuals and businesses:

  • ₹25,000 from Mukeshkumar Saha

  • ₹15,000 from Sukhwani Builders

  • ₹3,000 from Prashant Giridhar Talware

  • ₹2,000 from Shrihari Sanjay Shimpi

  • ₹1,500 from Rahul Gutte

During the special drive, which lasted from November 27 to December 4, municipal teams removed a total of 8,335 illegal hoardings, kiosks, and banners placed at public squares, open spaces, boundary walls, and poles.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Pradeep Thengal, who oversees the Sky Signage and Licensing Department, confirmed that such operations will continue to ensure compliance with municipal regulations.

“Strict action, including fines and criminal charges, will be taken against violators to prevent unauthorized signage in the city,” he stated.

This effort is part of the municipal corporation’s broader initiative to maintain urban aesthetics and curb illegal activities in public spaces.
