Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has received 13,854 applications for its scholarship programs aimed at supporting students who have passed the 10th and 12th grades. After a thorough verification process, the approved scholarship amounts will be credited directly to the students' bank accounts.
The scholarships are provided under two schemes run by PMC’s Social Development Department:
Bharat Ratna Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Educational Financial Assistance Scheme – for students who have completed their 10th grade.
Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe Educational Financial Assistance Scheme – for students who have completed their 12th grade.
Application Process and Response
Initially, the deadline for applications was September 30, but PMC later extended the submission period twice, with the final deadline set for January 31. This extension led to a significant number of applications being submitted.
The initiative aims to provide financial assistance to students and support their higher education aspirations.
A total of 13,854 applications were received.
Of these, 10,305 applications were for the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Scheme (10th-grade students).
3,549 applications were for the Annabhau Sathe Scheme (12th-grade students).
Deputy Commissioner of the Social Development Department, Nitin Udas, stated that all applications will be reviewed as part of the verification process. Once the verification is complete, the scholarship amounts will be transferred directly to the students' bank accounts.
