Pune Airport will shift all flight operations to the new passenger terminal starting March 5, while the old terminal will be closed for renovation from March 6. The revamp is expected to take around eight months, during which the facility will be upgraded to enhance passenger experience and increase the airport’s handling capacity.
Currently, 16 flights depart and 16 flights arrive at the old terminal daily, making a total of 32 flight movements. These flights will now be managed at the new terminal, which had already started handling international operations in December 2024.
Revamp Plans for the Old Terminal
The first phase of the renovation will focus on building new check-in counters and expanding the security waiting area on the first floor. This process is expected to take six to eight months. Additionally, existing office structures in front of the terminal will be demolished to create more open space.
Murlidhar Mohol, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, emphasized the importance of Pune’s airport expansion, stating:
"The new terminal represents a significant step in our efforts to enhance air travel infrastructure in Pune. Passengers can now experience world-class facilities, and similar improvements will be made at the old terminal as well."
Santosh Dhoke, Director of Pune Airport, added: "The transition of all flights to the new terminal will streamline operations. Once the renovation of the old terminal is complete, travelers will experience much-improved facilities and convenience."
