Pune-Ernakulam Superfast Express Service Suspended for Two Months

Pune-Nagpur rail route will also remain suspended from January 18 to April 12. Ernakulam Superfast Express traveling from Belagavi to Pune will not operate between January 20 and April 14.

Pune: The Pune-Ernakulam Superfast Express, a key train route connecting Pune to Kerala, will be suspended for two months due to ongoing construction work. The service via Pune-Sangli will be unavailable from January 18 to April 12. However, passengers can avail of the express train on an alternate route via Panvel and Madgaon during this period.

The construction work is being carried out between Castle Rock and Kulam railway stations under the South Western Railway zone. According to officials, the suspension is necessary to ensure passenger safety during the construction period.

Other train services, including the Pune-Nagpur rail route, will also remain suspended from January 18 to April 12. Similarly, the Ernakulam Superfast Express traveling from Belagavi to Pune will not operate between January 20 and April 14.

Passengers traveling from Satara, Sangli, Miraj, and Kolhapur to Kerala will face significant inconvenience. Authorities have urged passengers to make alternate travel arrangements during this period.

Soldier Dies While Attempting to Alight a Moving Train at Daund

Daund: A tragic incident claimed the life of Bhausaheb Shahanu Devkar (48), a soldier traveling on the Chennai-Mumbai Express. The incident occurred at Daund railway station on Sunday, January 12, at approximately 10:30 AM.

Devkar, who was returning home on leave, attempted to deboard the Chennai-Mumbai Express at Daund, despite it not being a scheduled stop. Carrying a heavy bag on his back, he lost balance while alighting onto platform number 2. The weight of the bag caused him to fall toward the tracks, resulting in a fatal accident.

Devkar, a Naik serving in the Indian Army in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, was on his way to his hometown. His body was handed over to his family by the Daund Railway Police.
