Water discharge from Khadakwasla Dam increased from 22,121 cusecs to 25,696 cusecs at 1 PM on July 28.
Continuous rainfall in the catchment area has led to rising dam levels.
Irrigation Department warns that discharge may change depending on further inflow and rainfall.
Pune, 28 July 2025: Due to heavy rainfall in the catchment areas, the Irrigation Department has increased the discharge from Khadakwasla Dam into the Mutha River. As of 1:00 PM on July 28, the release has been raised from 22,121 cusecs to 25,696 cusecs.
Officials stated that this step was necessary because of the rising water levels in the dam caused by ongoing rain. They also noted that the discharge may be revised further depending on how much more rain falls and how much water continues to flow into the dam.
The department has urged residents and commercial establishments situated along the riverbanks in Pune to remain cautious. People are advised to stay updated and follow safety measures, as further changes in discharge levels may occur.
Authorities assured that the situation is being continuously monitored, and further announcements will be made if required. Pune's Bhide Bridge has gone underwater due to the increased water discharge from Khadakwasla Dam.
