Pune’s longest flyover on Sinhagad Road, from Rajaram Bridge to Fun Time Theatre, was inaugurated by CM Devendra Fadnavis.
Built at a cost of ₹118 crore, the project was completed in three phases to ease severe congestion on the busy stretch.
Travel time on the 2.6 km stretch has now reduced from 30 minutes to just 5–6 minutes, benefiting over 1.5 lakh daily commuters.
Pune, 2nd September 2025: Commuters on Sinhagad Road finally received long-awaited relief as the city’s longest flyover, connecting Rajaram Bridge to Fun Time Theatre, was inaugurated today by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The ₹118 crore project was carried out in three phases to tackle congestion on one of Pune’s busiest traffic corridors. The elevated road was the only practical option, since the Mutha River on one side and hills on the other made road widening impossible.
The construction began in September 2021 after a ground-breaking ceremony led by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. The final stretch was completed this year, bringing the full 2.6 km flyover into use.
Before the project, commuters faced long jams at six traffic signals, taking nearly half an hour to cross the short distance. With the new flyover, the journey now takes barely five to six minutes.
Apart from the elevated road, the project has added three-lane service roads, wider footpaths, parking spaces, landscaped dividers, and beautification works, with maintenance supported under CSR initiatives for the next five years.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol, Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council Dr. Neelam Gorhe, State Minister Madhuri Misal, MLAs Yogesh Tilekar, Bhimrao Tapkir, Bapusaheb Pathare, and Sunil Kamble, along with senior officials of PMC and Pune Police.
The flyover is now expected to significantly reduce traffic snarls, easing the daily commute for more than 1.5 lakh vehicles and improving connectivity to areas such as Dhayari, Narhe, Khadakwasla, Vadgaon Budruk, and Nanded City.
