Pune: In a special initiative to celebrate International Women’s Day, Pune Metro has announced a major discount for women commuters. From March 1 to March 8, all women travelers can avail a One-Day Metro Pass for just ₹20, significantly lower than the regular price of ₹118.

This special initiative by the Pune Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Pune Metro) aims to promote affordable, safe, and convenient travel for women in Pune. The discounted pass will be easily available across all Pune Metro stations, and commuters will only need to carry a valid identification document for verification.

Encouraging Women to Choose Metro Travel

Pune Metro has introduced this initiative to encourage more women to opt for metro travel and to offer a safer and more reliable public transport option. Given the increasing traffic congestion in Pune, this move is expected to boost metro ridership while easing pressure on road transport systems.

"Our aim is to make metro travel more accessible for women and provide them with a safe, comfortable, and affordable commuting experience. We hope that more women will take advantage of this offer and experience the benefits of metro travel," said a Pune Metro official.

How Women Can Avail the Discounted Metro Pass?

Women commuters can avail the ₹20 One-Day Metro Pass by following these simple steps:

  • Visit any Pune Metro station and go to the ticket counter.

  • Pay just ₹20 to receive the One-Day Metro Pass instantly.

  • Carry an identification document (such as Aadhaar, PAN card, or Driving License) for verification.

  • The pass is valid for one day only and allows unlimited metro travel throughout the day.
