  2. The 2025 civic elections will follow a four-member ward system like in 2017, but now include 32 newly merged villages, prompting significant redrawing of ward boundaries.

  3. Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram reviewed preparations at the election branch and directed the team to follow State Election Commission guidelines strictly.

Pune, 2nd August 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is in the final stages of drafting its new ward structure for the upcoming 2025 municipal elections. The draft will be submitted to the Maharashtra state government on Monday, August 4.

This reorganization comes in the wake of 32 new villages being merged into the city limits since the last election in 2017. While the structure of four-member wards will continue, these new additions have required major changes, especially in the city’s peripheral areas.

As per the current plan, there will be 39 wards with four members each and three wards with three members each, making a total of 165 corporators. This structure is nearly finalized.

To meet the state government's deadline, the civic administration is working round the clock. Officials have used Google Maps and field visits to determine new boundaries, and final adjustments are being made.

On Thursday, PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram visited the Election Branch at Savarkar Bhavan to review the preparations. He instructed officials to strictly follow the guidelines set by the State Election Commission and ensure that all necessary materials are in place.

With just three days left, the PMC is in the last phase of fine-tuning the proposal before it is formally sent for approval.
