Pune: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Pune has issued notices to 65 auto rickshaw drivers based on complaints received through its dedicated helpline (8275330101). The helpline was launched to address passenger grievances, and the majority of complaints registered so far pertain to fare refusals, followed by instances of misbehavior.

Commuters in Pune have often faced difficulties while traveling by auto rickshaws, with many reporting rude behavior or refusal to accept rides. Filing complaints through traditional methods, such as visiting the RTO office or sending emails, has proven to be a lengthy and inconvenient process. To simplify this, the RTO launched a WhatsApp helpline, encouraging citizens to report issues directly.

In the last few months, the helpline has received 135 complaints, with most of them highlighting fare refusals. Acting on these complaints, the RTO has taken strict action, issuing notices to 65 drivers and initiating further proceedings against them.

Deputy Regional Transport Officer Swapnil Bhosale commented on the development, stating, “The helpline has been effective in addressing complaints against auto rickshaw drivers. As the number of grievances grows, the RTO has initiated a special inspection campaign to identify and address violations by drivers. Comprehensive checks are being carried out, and appropriate action will be taken in every case.”

The RTO has urged citizens to continue using the helpline to report issues, emphasizing that all complaints will be thoroughly investigated, and offenders will be held accountable.
