Pune: Although the minimum temperature in Pune has risen slightly over the past 24 hours, the city continues to experience chilly conditions. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the National Defence Academy (NDA) area recorded the lowest temperature in Pune at 7.5°C, while Shivajinagar registered 8.9°C on December 19 (Thursday).

The district is under the grip of a cold wave, with temperatures dipping below 8°C earlier this week. On Wednesday (December 18), the mercury rose to over 7°C, marking a slight relief. Notable temperatures include NDA at 7.5°C, Lohegaon at 11.7°C, Pashan at 9.1°C, Shivajinagar at 8.9°C, Chinchwad at 14.8°C, and Magarpatta at 15.1°C.

IMD has forecast a further rise in minimum temperatures over the next two days, which is expected to bring some respite from the intense cold. Additionally, from December 20 onward, cloudy afternoons and light fog in the early mornings are expected in Pune and surrounding areas. Minimum temperatures are likely to increase by 2-3°C during this period.

In other parts of Maharashtra, minimum temperatures remained low, with Washim recording 6.6°C, Ahilyanagar at 7.4°C, and Jalgaon at 8.4°C. Gondia recorded 8.8°C, while Nashik and Beed experienced 9°C. Notable higher temperatures included Wardha at 10.5°C and Sangli at 11.6°C.
