Pune, 30 August 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has emerged as the best-performing civic body in Maharashtra for e-governance reforms under the state’s 150-day mission program. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis felicitated PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram for this achievement at a review meeting held at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai.
The meeting, attended by senior civic officials including Additional Commissioner Prithviraj B.P., saw presentations from several municipal corporations across the state. After reviewing progress reports, Pune was ranked first for its use of technology to complete pending work and improve citizen services.
Commissioner Ram highlighted how PMC strengthened its digital governance in recent months. The corporation launched a new bilingual website with multiple microsites and user-friendly mobile applications like PMC Care and Road Mitra, which have together recorded millions of users. A majority of civic services have now been moved online, saving time for citizens and reducing paperwork.
Grievance redressal has also improved, with residents able to lodge complaints through mobile apps, WhatsApp, and social media. Over one lakh complaints were addressed in the past year. The compulsory implementation of e-office across departments has brought more speed and transparency, with over 2,500 employees now using the system daily.
PMC has adopted advanced tools such as GIS-based road and works management, a central data dashboard for performance tracking, and a dedicated command centre called PMC Spark, which monitors projects fortnightly. Artificial intelligence is also being introduced to assist in property tax recovery and complaint analysis.
According to officials, these measures have positioned Pune as the state’s leader in e-governance, with a strong focus on citizen convenience and technology-driven efficiency.
