No passenger injuries have been reported so far on the Purva Express. Despite the incident, the train proceeded on its route past the station. Preliminary information indicates that certain passengers from the 07051 Charlapalli–Raxaul Special Train were allegedly involved in the stone-throwing.

The special train was reportedly stuck at Shankarpur station for more than an hour and a half, despite not having a scheduled stop there, due to a technical malfunction. Passengers said they repeatedly asked railway officials for an explanation about the extended halt but were given no clear answers, which caused growing frustration.

Passengers further claimed that the train was missing essential amenities, such as drinking water. Although it was operating as a long-distance special service, it reportedly had no pantry facilities, which intensified the frustration of those on board.

According to eyewitnesses, the stone pelting started without warning, causing panic among passengers in the Purva Express coaches. Railway personnel and other passengers tried to manage the situation as tensions briefly rose.

The episode has heightened calls for a comprehensive investigation and stringent legal measures against those accountable. Officials are likewise under fire for purported failures in communicating with passengers and managing railway security.
