Fadnavis made the statement while speaking at the release of a three-volume literary collection of Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe at Lady Ramabai Hall in S.P. College, Pune. The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Dr. Neelam Gorhe, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Minister of State Madhuri Misal, and several Pune MLAs and officials.

Fadnavis also announced that memorials dedicated to Annabhau Sathe will be built at Chiragnagar in Mumbai and in his native village of Wategaon. He added that the government will support the production of a film on Sathe’s life and provide necessary financial aid for the project.

"Annabhau Sathe had formal education for only a day and a half, yet over 40 of his novels and works have been studied for PhDs," Fadnavis said. He noted that Sathe’s writings powerfully challenged social inequality while promoting unity. His work has been translated into 22 languages, showing its global resonance.

Fadnavis praised the impact of Sathe’s folk songs and poems, especially during the Samyukta Maharashtra movement. When Prime Minister Nehru hinted that Mumbai might become part of Gujarat or a Union Territory, Sathe's literature inspired youth to join the agitation demanding Mumbai remain with Maharashtra.

Deputy CM Eknath Shinde also acknowledged Sathe’s influence, stating that his sharp, socially conscious literature gave strength to the movement for a united Maharashtra.
