Pune: In a proactive move to strengthen security on campus, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has launched a 24x7 security helpline. This initiative aims to provide students, faculty, staff, and visitors with an immediate response mechanism for security concerns, emergencies, and incident reporting.

The decision to establish a dedicated helpline follows a series of alarming incidents within the university campus. Cases of drug abuse in boys' hostels, liquor bottles discovered in girls' hostels, and a recent incident where a miscreant attempted inappropriate behavior in front of female students have highlighted the urgent need for stronger security measures.

To address these issues, the round-the-clock security helpline has been introduced to ensure swift action against security threats and prompt assistance during emergencies. The administration emphasized that all complaints would be handled confidentially and effectively.

How the Helpline Works
The security helpline will serve as a direct line for reporting any suspicious activities or safety concerns. Trained security personnel will assess the situation, take necessary action, and coordinate with law enforcement agencies if required.

Security Helpline Number: 020-48553383

Services Covered by the Helpline:

  • Reporting suspicious activities

  • Seeking immediate assistance in emergencies

  • Filing complaints related to security and safety

  • Getting support in cases of harassment or distress

  • Addressing other security-related concerns

Operational Process
Call the security helpline to report any security-related concern.
Trained security personnel will evaluate the situation and take appropriate action.
The university’s security team will coordinate with local law enforcement if necessary.
All complaints will be handled confidentially and resolved with urgency.

The university administration has urged all students, faculty, and staff to save the helpline number and use it responsibly whenever required.
