Pune: A government employee from Wagholi, who follows a strict vegetarian diet, was left shocked and distressed after a local restaurant mistakenly delivered chicken instead of Veg Crispy in an online food order. The incident sparked outrage and raised concerns about food safety in online deliveries.

Non-veg served instead of veg in restaurant

The government employee had been a lifelong vegetarian and belonged to the Warkari sect, which strictly prohibits meat consumption. On the day of the incident, his children were out attending an event, leaving him and his wife alone at home. The couple decided to order Veg Crispy online from a restaurant in Wagholi.

Excited about their meal, they placed the order and received the delivery. However, after taking a single bite, the man noticed a different taste and immediately informed his wife. Upon careful inspection, they discovered that the dish was not vegetarian but actually contained chicken.

Distress and Regret

The realization deeply disturbed the couple. The man felt that he had committed a sin and regretted his decision to order food online. He expressed great remorse and was mentally distressed, believing that the incident had violated his lifelong commitment to vegetarianism.

Police Complaint and Restaurant's Apology

Following the incident, the government employee went to the police station to file a complaint. However, the police advised him to take the issue to the Consumer Forum for further action.

Meanwhile, the restaurant owner became aware of the mistake and personally met the complainant, offering repeated apologies. He folded his hands and begged for forgiveness, acknowledging the serious nature of the error.

Public Awareness & Social Media Message

After the incident, the man decided to share his experience with friends and also posted a warning on social media. He urged strict vegetarians to:

  • Order food only from pure vegetarian restaurants

  • Avoid mixed-category (Veg & Non-Veg) restaurants

  • Be extra cautious while ordering online
