Pune: Police investigations have revealed that a dance teacher at a prominent school in the Warje area is accused of repeated sexual offenses over the past two years.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that the teacher exploited the innocence of an 11-year-old boy, coercing him into inappropriate acts, some of which were allegedly recorded on the teacher’s mobile phone.
The school, as part of its student safety initiative, had organized counseling sessions to educate students about good touch and bad touch. During one such session, the victim disclosed the abuse, prompting immediate action by the school administration and law enforcement.
The accused, employed as a dance instructor for students in grades one through five, was arrested after the child filed a complaint on Tuesday (December 17). The police have since registered two separate cases against the teacher and are investigating the possibility of additional victims. Investigators are also examining whether the offenses occurred on school premises or elsewhere.
On Wednesday (December 18), the accused was presented in court. Special Public Prosecutor Nitin Konghe emphasized the seriousness of the crimes and the necessity of an in-depth investigation. The court subsequently granted police custody of the accused until December 22 to allow further inquiries.
The school has taken steps to address the emotional and psychological impact of the incident. Counselors have been appointed to support affected students and their families, and the institution has reinforced its safety awareness programs to help prevent such incidents in the future.
