Pune: A serious accident took place in Yerawada area at around 8 a.m. when a bus from Kharadi entered a no-entry zone and hit a delivery boy traveling on the road. The impact left the young man with severe injuries, requiring immediate medical assistance.

Local residents acted swiftly, detaining the bus driver who caused the accident. Upon investigation, it was found that the driver was heavily intoxicated. His irresponsible conduct not only endangered lives but also sparked outrage among locals, who handed him over to the police after confronting him.

In a shocking turn of events, the injured boy was rushed to the Indira Gandhi Hospital by concerned citizens, but the hospital staff refused to admit him. This blatant display of insensitivity led to widespread anger among the residents, who questioned the hospital’s commitment to serving the public.

Efforts to call an ambulance for the injured victim proved unhelpful, as the ambulance failed to arrive on time. Adding to the chaos, no assistance came from the nearby Parnakuti police outpost, leaving the boy’s condition even more precarious.

Realizing the lack of support from authorities, local residents took the injured boy to a private hospital in an auto-rickshaw. This quick and decisive action by the citizens ensured that the boy received timely medical care.

The incident has highlighted significant lapses in administrative and emergency response systems. The refusal by the hospital, delayed ambulance services, and police indifference have drawn severe criticism. Residents have called for urgent reforms to improve accountability and efficiency in handling such emergencies.

Following the accident, citizens have demanded stricter penalties for drunk drivers. Such incidents endanger innocent lives, and locals insist that harsher laws are necessary to prevent future tragedies.
