Youth Electrocuted While Installing Flex Banner in Pune; Two Booked

Pune: In a tragic incident, a 17-year-old youth died from an electric shock while installing a flex banner in Pune. The deceased has been identified as Devram Natharam Ghanji. A case has been filed against two individuals, Tejaram alias Ajay Mali and Harish Parihar, in connection with the incident.

According to the complaint lodged by Devram’s father, Natharam Sujaram Ghanji, at the Hadapsar police station, the incident took place on February 18, 2024, near the Tulsi Textiles shop in Manjri.

Devram was working at Diamond Printing, owned by Tejaram Mali, where he was assigned to prepare and install banners. On the day of the incident, Devram and his colleague, Indranath Rawal, went to install a banner at Tulsi Textiles, which had a high-tension power line running above it.

While attempting to install the banner, Devram came into contact with the live power line, resulting in a severe electric shock. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Devram succumbed to his injuries.

Following the complaint, police investigations revealed the negligence of the accused in ensuring safety measures.

Consequently, charges have been filed against Tejaram Mali and Harish Parihar. Assistant Police Inspector Rokde is leading the investigation into the case.

This tragic incident illustrates the severe risks associated with inadequate safety measures around electrical installations and underscores an urgent and critical need for stringent electrical maintenance and safety protocols in workplaces and public spaces.
