Pune, 20th July 2026: Preparatory work for the much-awaited Hadapsar–Yavat Elevated Corridor has officially gained momentum, with the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) beginning soil testing at more than 10 locations along the proposed route.
While the main construction work has not yet started, officials have accelerated preliminary activities to ensure the project remains on schedule.
The 31.65-km elevated corridor, estimated to cost ₹5,265 crore, is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on the busy Pune–Solapur Highway between Hadapsar and Yavat. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the project and directed MSIDC to complete the corridor within three to three-and-a-half years, instead of the initially planned four-year timeline.
Following the completion of soil investigations, MSIDC will begin utility shifting within the next month. Water pipelines, high-voltage electricity lines, sewer networks, internet cables and telephone lines located along the corridor will be relocated before major civil works begin.
Officials said completing this work in advance will help avoid disruptions to essential services and ensure that pillar construction proceeds without delays.
According to the current project schedule, construction of the elevated corridor's pillars is expected to commence in January 2027. The advance planning is aimed at removing all obstacles before large-scale construction begins, helping the project progress smoothly.
The elevated corridor is expected to provide a long-term solution to chronic traffic congestion on the Hadapsar–Yavat stretch, one of the busiest sections of the Pune–Solapur Highway. Once completed, the project is expected to improve travel time, ease freight movement and enhance connectivity between Pune and the rapidly developing eastern suburbs.
MSIDC Managing Director Brijesh Dixit said soil testing is progressing rapidly and utility shifting will begin shortly. He added that the agency is prioritising the removal of all obstacles before pillar construction so that the project can move ahead without interruptions while ensuring that water, electricity and communication services remain unaffected during execution.
