The individual who filed the complaint went to the Kondhwa police station following an electricity theft charge against them. The investigation uncovered that 34-year-old officer Somnath Bapu Maharan from Shewalwadi had requested ₹10,000 to dismiss the case.

Additional investigation revealed that Yuvraj Krishna Farande, a 59-year-old retired police sub-inspector, had supported Maharan in this action. As a result of these discoveries, both officers face charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The operation was executed by a team headed by Assistant Commissioner Neeta Misal and Inspector Asavari Shedge, with oversight from Police Commissioner Shirish Sardeshpande and Additional Superintendent Ajit Patil.
