This year’s elections will be held across 41 wards, with a total of 165 corporator seats. Of these, 83 seats are reserved for women and 82 for men. Under the women’s quota, 48 seats fall under the open category, 23 under OBC, 11 under Scheduled Caste (SC), and one under Scheduled Tribe (ST). Among men, 48 seats are open, 22 are reserved for OBC, 11 for SC, and one for ST.

The reservation structure has been determined in line with State Election Commission guidelines. SC and ST seats have been allotted to wards with the highest proportion of their respective populations. Meanwhile, 27 percent of the total seats have been reserved for the Other Backward Classes.

As per the 2011 Census, Pune’s population stands at 34,81,359, including 4,68,633 residents from Scheduled Castes and 40,687 from Scheduled Tribes. The municipal setup consists of 41 wards and 165 corporators, with 40 wards having four representatives each and one ward, No. 38, having five.

The finalisation of the reservation draw signals the beginning of intensified political activity as parties prepare to announce candidates and gear up for the civic elections in Pune.
