PMPML Expands Women-Only Bus Service to 33 Routes From Tomorrow

Special Bus Service For Women: New routes added to boost safety and comfort for women commuters during peak hours

Ankur Nikam

In a significant move to enhance safety and convenience for women commuters, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is expanding its women-only bus service from the current 14 to 33 routes starting tomorrow.

The decision comes in response to increasing demand and peak-hour congestion, supported by a data-driven analysis of travel patterns. The new routes have been strategically selected to connect key residential zones with commercial centers, educational institutions, and transport hubs.

PMPML Chairperson Deepa Mudhol Munde launched the initiative earlier to improve the travel experience for women and promote a sense of security. Given the overwhelming public response, the service is now being scaled up.

The PMPML administration has also assured that it will continue prioritizing passenger safety and ensure that these dedicated services are well-maintained and efficiently operated to avoid inconvenience.

These special buses, exclusively for women, will operate during peak hours i.e. mornings between 8 am and 9:45 am, and evenings between 6 pm and 6:40 pm to ensure a safer and more comfortable travel experience.
