Pune, 14 June 2025: In a coordinated operation, the Kondhwa Police, with assistance from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Military Intelligence Division of the Army's Southern Command, apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals who had illegally entered India and were residing unlawfully in the Kondhwa area of Pune for the past four months.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Swapan Nidhubhushan Mandal (39, native of Bashantala, Shibupur, Bangladesh), Mithun Kumar Dilip Mandal (31, native of Kondada, Ashasuni, Bangladesh), Randhir Kumar Mandal (38, native of Andulpota, Shibupur, Bangladesh), and Dilip Nimai Mandal (38, native of Hizbdanga, Bagdaha, Bangladesh).
A complaint in this regard was filed by Police Constable Tanaji Sarde at Kondhwa Police Station. Legal action has been initiated under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946; Sections 3 and 6 of the Passport Act, 1967; and Section 3(A) of the Foreigners Order, 1950.
According to police reports, intelligence inputs indicated the presence of Bangladeshi nationals illegally staying in the Punyadham Ashram Road area near KEC Labour Camp, Notting Hill Society, Budruk, Kondhwa. Based on this tip-off received on Friday (13th) from the ATS and Military Intelligence, a Kondhwa Police team, along with independent witnesses, conducted a search operation in the area.
During the operation, the police located the suspects in a house and questioned them. Initially, the suspects gave vague responses and failed to produce valid identity documents.
Upon sustained interrogation, they admitted to being Bangladeshi citizens working as daily wage labourers and staying in Kondhwa for the past few months without valid travel documents or official permissions. A case of illegal infiltration and unauthorized stay was registered, and all four were arrested.
