Pune, 2nd July 2026: Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed the way people create content and access information, making many tasks faster and easier. However, individuals and businesses must adopt the technology responsibly while staying aware of its limitations, said veteran computer expert Dr. Deepak Shikarpur during a special session organised by the Regional Advertising Marketing Association (RAMA) in Pune on Wednesday.

Adopt New Tech or Be Left Behind

Speaking at the event, Dr. Shikarpur said AI chatbots have become an essential tool in today's world and that those who do not use them risk falling behind. He said businesses and professionals must adapt to changing technologies to remain competitive.

"AI has made many forms of content creation easier, but users should never rely on it blindly. It is important to verify the information it generates because AI can sometimes produce incorrect or misleading content," he said.

AI to Reshape Learning and Work

Dr. Shikarpur said generative AI is rapidly transforming education and workplaces by simplifying everyday tasks. He said AI chatbots are becoming effective tools for learning and predicted that the education system could undergo major changes after 2030.

He also stressed the importance of understanding the difference between AI-generated and human-created content and encouraged people to use AI as a support tool rather than a replacement for critical thinking.

Protect Data, Use Tech Responsibly

Highlighting privacy concerns, Dr. Shikarpur advised people to avoid sharing excessive personal information on social media. He explained that smartphones and digital platforms collect user data to personalise services and advertisements, making such information commercially valuable.

He warned that cybercriminals often exploit social media to target victims and urged users to remain cautious online. He also called on parents to educate children about the responsible use of AI and digital platforms and suggested that people should occasionally disconnect from technology to maintain a healthy balance in life.

The programme was organised by RAMA for professionals from the advertising, marketing, and media sectors. RAMA President Dinkar Shiledar, Secretary Mahesh Ghorpade, and Treasurer Vineet Parnaik attended the event.

Members also paid tribute to Founder Director Ishwar Dive, remembering his significant contribution to the organisation. Addressing the gathering, Shiledar said the advertising industry is changing rapidly, making it essential for agencies to adapt to new technologies and evolving market trends.
