Pune, 13 December 2025: The Pune Book Festival, one of Maharashtra’s largest and most celebrated literary events return to Fergusson College grounds from today. Now in its third year, the festival has expanded significantly in scale, participation, and programming, reflecting Pune’s growing reputation as a cultural and literary hub.
This year’s edition will feature around 900 stalls, of which nearly 800 will sell books in various Indian languages, while the remaining stalls will offer food and refreshments. The organisers are expecting close to 12.5 lakh visitors during the nine-day event and estimate that book sales could reach the ₹100-crore mark, making it one of the biggest book-selling festivals in the country.
A major highlight this year is the expanded Pune Lit Fest, which will now span six days instead of the earlier format. Notably, three of these days will be dedicated exclusively to Marathi literature, aiming to celebrate and strengthen regional literary voices alongside national and international works.
The festival will also include a Children’s Corner to encourage young readers, an Authors’ Corner for interactions between writers and readers, and daily book launches. Cultural performances, panel discussions, and interactive sessions with noted authors, journalists, and artists from across India will further add to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.
With its larger footprint, diverse programming, and strong focus on regional and multilingual literature, the Pune Book Festival 2025 is expected to draw massive crowds and reinforce Pune’s status as a key centre for literature and ideas.
