Pune, 25th May 2026: In a raid in Budhwar Peth, the Faraskhana and Khadak police conducted a joint midnight operation and arrested six Bangladeshi women staying illegally in the city. The raid was carried out at Sagar Building after police received specific information about foreign nationals residing there without valid documents.
According to the police, the women were initially brought to India after being promised jobs such as beauty parlour work, tailoring, and domestic help. However, during interrogation, it emerged that they were later forced into prostitution after arriving in Budhwar Peth.
Police are now investigating the larger network behind the operation, including who helped the women enter India illegally, how they crossed international borders, and who arranged fake identity documents for them.
The action was taken under the supervision of Zone 1 Deputy Commissioner of Police Rishikesh Rawale, who has intensified operations against illegal immigrants since taking charge.
With the latest raid, Pune Police have so far identified and acted against 103 Bangladeshi nationals living illegally within the limits of Zone 1.
Officials said the ongoing drive against illegal immigration and related criminal activities will continue in the coming days.
