The accused have been identified as Sheikh Shahnawaz Yunus and Pratap Patil. The complaint was filed by Anil Gaikwad (42), a revenue assistant from the district collector’s office, at Bund Garden police station.

According to police officials, both individuals had been appointed as booth-level officers for the revision work. Yunus is employed as a teacher in an Urdu school, while Patil works as a clerk in the Public Works Department.

Authorities stated that both failed to complete their assigned duties on time, leading to the registration of the offence under Section 134 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, which deals with negligence in official election duties.

The investigation into the matter is currently being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Dheeraj Gupta. The action has created unease among teachers and other staff who are frequently assigned election-related responsibilities.
