Pune, 30 April 2026: A gas leak was reported at a chemical company near Gangadham Chowk, close to Aai Mata Temple, triggering concern among local residents. The leak originated from a storage tank, leading to the rapid spread of gas in the surrounding area.

Fire brigade personnel responded promptly to the emergency. Equipped with breathing apparatus (BA sets), teams entered the affected premises and carried out a controlled rescue operation. Their timely intervention helped contain the leak and avoid a potentially serious incident.

A total of 17 residents experienced breathing difficulties due to exposure. Out of them, 14 were transported to nearby hospitals using government ambulance services (108). Additionally, one fire officer and a fighter were also admitted for medical treatment after being affected during the operation.

The rescue was conducted under the guidance of Chief Fire Officer Devendra Potphode, with five officers and around 30 personnel involved. Four fire engines, including specialized equipment vehicles, were deployed at the site.

Authorities confirmed that the situation is now under control, and a major disaster was successfully prevented due to the swift and coordinated response of the fire brigade.
