Pune, 15 April 2026: The arrival of Alphonso mangoes from Karnataka has picked up significantly at Pune’s Market Yard, keeping prices relatively stable compared to the costlier Konkan varieties. Due to their affordability, many consumers are preferring Karnataka mangoes this season.
The season began on April 1, and currently, around 2,000 to 2,500 crates and 2,000 to 3,000 boxes are arriving daily from different parts of Karnataka.
With the upcoming Akshaya Tritiya festival, demand for mangoes has increased, and most of the stock is being sold quickly. However, traders believe that prices may decline slightly next week as supply continues to rise.
Favourable weather conditions in Karnataka have resulted in a good yield this year, leading to expectations of a major increase in arrivals in the second phase of the season.
Traders estimate that supply could reach up to 10,000 crates and 15,000 to 20,000 boxes per day in the coming week, which may further soften prices.
Along with Alphonso mangoes, other varieties such as Pairi, Lalbagh, and Badam are also expected to arrive in larger quantities, which could lead to a drop in their prices as well.
Currently, Karnataka Alphonso mangoes are priced between ₹1,800 and ₹2,300 for boxes containing 4 to 5 dozen, ₹800 to ₹1,100 for 2-dozen boxes, and ₹140 to ₹180 per kg. Pairi is selling at ₹70 to ₹100 per kg, while Lalbagh and Badam varieties are priced between ₹60 and ₹80 per kg.
The overall quality of mangoes this season is reported to be satisfactory due to favourable growing conditions. Traders expect the Karnataka mango season to continue until June 15, with prices likely to ease further after the Akshaya Tritiya period as supply increases.
“This year, favourable weather has led to good fruiting in Karnataka orchards, and the quality is also satisfactory. Arrivals will increase further next week, which may bring prices down. The season is expected to continue until mid-June,” said trader Rohan Urasal.
