The expedition was far from easy. The team had to battle sub-zero temperatures, biting cold, and physiological challenges that come with high altitude. At 6,111 meters above sea level, the oxygen level drops to just 9.5%, making breathing extremely difficult. Hence, the mission required not only strong willpower but also exceptional physical and mental fitness.

The expedition began from Pune and passed through Delhi and Chandigarh. However, the team faced an early hurdle when their equipment bags were misplaced at Delhi airport, causing a delay of 7–8 hours in Chandigarh. Krishna Margale shared that despite such setbacks, the group moved ahead with positivity.

The team consisted of climbers from various states, Haryana (2), Odisha (1), Punjab (2), Delhi (3), Bihar (1), Bengaluru (2), Kerala (1), Maharashtra (4 including the Pune trio), Manali (2), and Uttarakhand (2), making a total of 22 members. Out of these, only seven completed the climb successfully.

Several climbers experienced altitude sickness like hypoxia, forcing them to drop out. “Keeping team morale high during such tough times was a big challenge, but we overcame it and reached the summit,” said mountaineer Mansingh Chavan.
