Pune, 7th June 2025: Work is underway to construct an iron pedestrian bridge over Bhide Bridge to go from Sadashiv Peth to Deccan Metro Station. The bridge has been closed since March for this purpose.

Bhide Bridge, which has been closed for more than three months, will remain closed for another month and a half. Mahametro had started the work on this bridge in March. Work is underway to construct an iron pedestrian bridge on the Bhide Bridge to go from Sadashiv Peth to Deccan Metro Station.

For this, the bridge has been closed since March. However, the work on the bridge has not been completed yet. Therefore, the bridge will remain closed for another month and a half.

It was said that the work on the pedestrian bridge would be completed in the first week of June and the bridge would be opened from June 6. But in reality, not even 20 percent of the work has been completed yet. Therefore, Mahametro has requested the traffic police and the municipal corporation to keep the bridge closed until August 15.

Bhide Bridge is important for the city's transportation. Most of the two-wheeler traffic in the western suburbs of Pune city passes through the Bhide Bridge on this riverbed. It is a convenient route for two-wheeler riders to reach the central areas of the city. About 2 to 3 lakh two-wheelers use this road every day.

During the monsoon, this road is closed only when the water level of the Mutha river rises or after the water is released. But Mahametro has kept this bridge closed for the work of the pedestrian bridge. Now, since this work will take another one and a half months, the traffic on this road has been diverted to an alternative route.
