Pune, 7th June 2025:This year, the rest period of the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi ceremony at Bopodi, at the entrance of Pune city, will be 25 minutes. With this decision, devotees from Khadki, Aundh, Bopodi, Baner and Range Hills areas will get enough time to have darshan of the Palkhi. The Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan has taken this important decision after a special request from former Deputy Mayor Sunita Wadekar.

The Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi ceremony comes to Pune every year. However, since the resting time at Bopodi was very short, many devotees did not get enough time to have darshan. This caused displeasure among the devotees.

Keeping this in mind, former Deputy Mayor Sunita Wadekar contacted Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan President Jalindar Maharaj More. She brought the problems of the devotees to his attention and requested him to increase the resting time. Responding immediately to this demand, More Maharaj agreed to increase the resting time to 25 minutes.

Bopodi is an important place in the suburbs of Pune. Thousands of devotees gather here every year to have darshan of the palanquin ceremony. However, earlier due to the short time, many could not have darshan of the palanquin.

Now due to the increased time, devotees from Khadki, Aundh, Baner, Range Hills and Bopodi areas will be able to have darshan of the Palkhi peacefully. Due to this, there is an atmosphere of joy among the local devotees.

Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Sohla is an integral part of Maharashtra's cultural and spiritual heritage. Every year lakhs of devotees participate in this festival. The stay of the Palkhi in Pune city is a special attraction for devotees. By increasing the resting time at Bopodi, more devotees will be able to enjoy this festival.
