Pune: Pedestrian Killed After Being Crushed Under PMPML Bus Wheel Near Swargate Metro Station

Pune, 10 April 2026: A tragic road accident in Pune claimed the life of a pedestrian on Thursday night after he was run over by the rear wheel of a PMPML bus near Swargate Metro Station.

According to police, the bus was travelling from Katraj towards Kothrud when the incident occurred at Swargate Chowk. As the vehicle passed the metro station, a pedestrian attempting to cross the road suddenly came under the rear wheel of the bus. The impact was severe, and the victim died instantly at the scene.

Senior Police Inspector Yashwant Nikam and a team from Swargate Police Station reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident. The body was later sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

The bus driver stated that the pedestrian suddenly ran onto the road, leading to the accident. However, police are verifying this claim and have begun examining CCTV footage from the area to determine the exact sequence of events.

Authorities said efforts were underway late into the night to establish the identity of the deceased, and the process of registering a case was in progress.
