Pune, 23 February 2026: City has witnessed unusually warm conditions on Sunday, February 22, 2026, as Shivajinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 19.2°C. This marks the second-highest February minimum temperature since 2015, when 19.5°C was recorded.
According to official data from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), it is also the first time since 2020 that the city’s minimum temperature has touched 19°C in February.
The rise in night-time temperatures has been steady over the past week, with minimum temperatures consistently remaining 3°C to 5°C above normal. On Sunday, the departure from normal widened further, with the minimum temperature recorded 5.8°C above the seasonal average.
Weather officials indicated that if the warming trend continues, Pune may set a new record for the highest February minimum temperature this year.
Daytime temperatures have also stayed above normal. Shivajinagar recorded a maximum of 34.4°C, which was 1.1°C higher than average. In Lohegaon, the temperature climbed to 35.4°C, 2.1°C above normal.
The combination of warm days and significantly warmer nights has created early summer-like conditions across the city, even though February typically marks the transition from winter to summer.
Forecasts suggest that temperatures will remain high throughout the week. After Sunday’s 34°C maximum and 19.2°C minimum, temperatures are expected to dip slightly to around 33°C during the day and 17°C at night by mid-week.
By weekend, they are likely to return to around 34°C during the day and 18°C at night. Clear skies are expected from Thursday, February 26 onward, which may further support the warming trend.
