Pune, 5 October 2025: In the early hours of Saturday, a road rage incident in Karegaon village, Shirur taluka, Pune district, led to the murder of a man. The decesed, Siddiqui Mohammad Mujameel Mohammad Haji, aged 34, was a resident of Karegaon originally from Nanded district, Maharashtra. Police have held two suspects, Omkar Sitaram Walke, 26, and Vijay Dnyaneshwar Jagdhane, 30, in connection with the murder.
Police reported that the suspects, Walke and Jagdhane, were on a motorcycle around 7 p.m. on Friday when they collided with pedestrians Siddiqui and his brother Mohammad Shakeel at Yashin Chowk in Karegaon.
Siddiqui and Mohammad Shakeel confronted the suspects about their reckless driving. However, the suspects became enraged and returned around 2 a.m. on Saturday to assault the brothers at their home in Karegaon using a wooden stick and a plastic pipe. Police said the attack was so severe that Siddqui died in the incident, while his brother Mohammad Shakeel was also left injured.
The first information report (FIR) in this case was filed by the late Siddiqui's brother, Mohammad Shakeel Mohammad Haji, aged 38, at the Ranjangaon MIDC police station in rural Pune. Upon receiving the report, a police team headed by senior inspector Mahadev Waghmode quickly arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation. Police sub-inspector Shivaji Mundhe is continuing the investigation, according to a press release issued by the police on Saturday.
Police apprehended the suspect and reported that Mohammad Shakeel was receiving medical care at a hospital, with his condition being stable. “We have arrested the two assailants. The murder was a fallout of a petty quarrel. The accused have no previous criminal record. Accused Walke is engaged in a mineral water bottles business, while his aide Jagdhane worked at a private place. Further investigation is on,” inspector Waghmode told the Indian Express.
