Pune’s Jain Boarding House land deal sparked a major political row.
Builder Vishal Gokhale has cancelled the deal on moral grounds.
Minister Murlidhar Mohol denied involvement amid opposition attacks.
Pune, 27 October 2025: The controversy surrounding the Jain Boarding House land deal has reached to a new stage, as developer Vishal Gokhale announced his plan to withdraw from the purchase. Gokhale informed the trust through an email, stating that he was retracting from the agreement for ethical reasons and wished to avoid upsetting the Jain community.
Over the past two weeks, the land deal had triggered a major political uproar in Pune. Shiv Sena leader Ravindra Dhangekar had launched a series of allegations directly against Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol, claiming his involvement in the transaction. Mohol, however, categorically denied any role, asserting that he had no connection with the deal.
As the issue intensified, leaders like former MP Raju Shetti and Ravindra Dhangekar took an aggressive stand, urging Gokhale to withdraw from the agreement. Mohol later met with Jain monks, assuring them of his support, though the visit also saw protests from some members of the Jain community.
Following public pressure and moral concerns, Gokhale decided to back out of the deal. Sources suggest that Gokhale Builders are likely to formally submit an application to cancel the transaction soon, bringing temporary closure to a controversy that had gripped Pune’s political scene for weeks.
