Pune, 22 April 2026: Two traffic police personnel have been suspended for misconduct after they were found collecting fines from traffic violators through an unauthorized third-party account instead of following official procedures. The action was taken by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Himmat Jadhav.

The suspended officers have been identified as Ankush Rama Pawar and Laxman Balaji Ramgade, both attached to the Sahakarnagar traffic division. The incident took place on April 19 at Sharda Arcade Chowk, where they were deployed for traffic regulation and were taking action against signal violators.

Instead of issuing official challans, the officers allegedly accepted fine payments from two motorists through another individual’s account. The irregularity came to light when one of the motorists recorded a video of the interaction on a mobile phone.

The video was later circulated on social media, prompting senior officials to take serious note of the matter. Following an internal review, both officers were suspended for their actions.

Officials stated that strict disciplinary action will be taken against any personnel found engaging in such misconduct, reinforcing accountability within the traffic department.
