Pune, 30 June 2025: Shiv Sena workers, led by city chief Pramod Bhangire and district chief Ulhas Tupe, staged a protest outside the Hadapsar-Mundhwa Assistant Commissioner’s office, highlighting serious civic issues faced by local residents. The agitation was aimed at drawing attention to problems such as poor water quality, absence of basic facilities, encroachments on roads, non-functional biometric attendance systems, and irregularities in the attendance of civic officials.
Despite repeated complaints and applications, civic problems remain unresolved, allege residents. Officers are often absent from duty, causing citizens to make multiple visits to the office without results. Protesters said that no work in the office is handled efficiently or to public satisfaction.
The ongoing administrative neglect has led to worsening conditions related to sanitation, traffic, and urban decay in the area. As a form of symbolic protest, agitators placed handcarts (like those used to sell vegetables and fruits) inside the office premises, turning the space into a mock marketplace and intensifying the atmosphere temporarily.
Shiv Sena members also raised slogans against the administration and demanded suspension of negligent officials. The protest drew participation from local citizens and party workers including Amar Ghule, Vicky Mane, Datta Khawale, Pankaj Kodre, and many others.
City chief Pramod Bhangire stated, “People have been suffering due to the inefficiency of the administration for months. We had no choice but to protest after no concrete action was taken despite continuous complaints. If there is no action in the next eight days, we will intensify the protest at the PMC headquarters.”
Deputy Commissioner Prashant Thombre assured the protesters, “We will take immediate note of the issues raised. A meeting will be arranged between local office-bearers and the Commissioner to resolve as many problems as possible. Citizens will see positive changes within the next eight days.”
