People with prescription lenses can finally get AI-powered Ray-Ban smart glasses designed for everyday use, as Meta prepares to launch its new ‘Scriber’ and ‘Blazer’ models. Meta is reportedly planning to release two new versions of its AI-enabled Ray-Ban smart glasses, tailored for users who require prescription lenses, making them more practical for daily wear.
According to a redacted filing with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), first reported by The Verge, the upcoming prescription-focused models are codenamed ‘Ray-Ban Meta Scriber’ and ‘Ray-Ban Meta Blazer’.
Meta’s upcoming smart glasses, developed with Ray-Ban parent EssilorLuxottica, are designed for prescription users and come in rectangular and rounded styles. Unlike previous AR models, they likely aren’t part of Meta’s flagship augmented reality lineup.
FCC filings list Ray-Ban Meta Scriber and Ray-Ban Meta Blazer, plus a possible larger Blazer variant. Features should mirror earlier models, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, phone-based processing, and a charging case.
Meta has seen rapid adoption, selling an estimated 7 million units in 2025, up from 2 million in 2023–24. Apple is also reportedly planning its own smart glasses, without AR displays.
Privacy concerns remain: a US class-action lawsuit and UK investigation claim sensitive content from the glasses may have been accessed by human annotators. Meta says user media stays private unless shared, with limited review for AI improvements.
