Pune, 8th May 2026: The demise of CA Ravi Pandit is being seen as a major loss for the chartered accountancy profession, India’s IT industry, and Pune’s business community. Known for his visionary thinking and inspiring leadership, Ravi Pandit built a remarkable journey that influenced professionals, entrepreneurs, and students across the country.
After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Ravi Pandit pursued management studies at the prestigious MIT Sloan School of Management in the United States. The global exposure helped shape his broad and forward-looking approach toward business and technology.
On returning to India, he took charge of the renowned CA firm Kirtane & Pandit Chartered Accountants and strengthened its reputation through professionalism, integrity, and client trust.
Long before globalization became a mainstream concept in India, Ravi Pandit believed Indian professional firms should compete at an international level. In recent years, the firm expanded its national presence through alliances with leading firms across North and South India.
Ravi Pandit also made notable contributions to the chartered accountancy profession. He served as a Regional Council Member of the Western India Regional Council (WIRC) of ICAI and displayed leadership qualities from his student days. Many professionals remember him as a motivating figure who encouraged young CA students and professionals.
However, his biggest impact came in the technology sector. At a time when computerization was still in its early stages in India, Ravi Pandit started developing software solutions for accounting, payroll, stock records, and business management. This vision eventually led to the creation of KPIT Technologies.
What began as a small initiative grew into one of India’s leading global technology companies in automotive and mobility software. Through innovation, technical expertise, and customer trust, KPIT earned worldwide recognition in areas such as electric mobility, autonomous vehicle systems, and automotive software engineering.
The company expanded both organically and through strategic mergers and acquisitions. Its merger with Cummins Infotech led to the creation of KPIT Cummins, a globally recognized brand. Later, restructuring resulted in the formation of Birlasoft, while KPIT continued focusing independently on future mobility technologies.
Under Ravi Pandit’s leadership, KPIT created significant value for investors and established a strong global reputation. His success also earned him a place among globally recognized wealthy business leaders listed by Forbes. Despite these achievements, he remained grounded, approachable, and closely connected to his professional roots.
Beyond business, Ravi Pandit was passionate about environmental sustainability. He showed keen interest in bamboo plantation and green initiatives aimed at ecological conservation.
He also played a major role in Pune’s industrial and business ecosystem through the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), where he served in several leadership roles, including as President.
During his tenure, MCCIA acquired a major office space at the International Convention Centre on Senapati Bapat Road, reflecting his institution-building vision.
Colleagues who worked closely with him often describe him as disciplined, visionary, and highly motivating. Despite his demanding professional life, he maintained strong personal discipline, physical fitness, and a positive attitude that inspired many around him.
Ravi Pandit’s life represented the journey of modern India itself, from traditional professional practice to global technology leadership. Through ethics, entrepreneurship, innovation, and global thinking, he created institutions and values that will continue to inspire future generations.
He is survived by his wife, son who is also a Chartered Accountant, daughter, and other family members. His contributions to the IT industry, chartered accountancy profession, Pune’s industrial landscape, and society will be remembered for years to come.
